THE FRIENDS OF STAVELY LIBRARY SOCIETY   Highway Cleanup was on May 6th.  A Huge Thank you to all our volunteers who participated this year! 

We are lucky to be selling 50/50 tickets again this year at the Stavely Rodeo June 15 – 17th. Watch for us working in the stands and also when you enter the rodeo grounds to buy your tickets!

Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday Sept 7th @ 6pm

BOOK CLUBNext meeting will be Thursday June 1 in the library at 7:00pm. We will be discussingThe It Girl by Ruth Ware; “The House at Riverton by Kate Morton and “Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen which were our Beach Reads. June selections will be a book about Book Clubs which will be handed out that evening.  They are as follows:

The Secret Book & Scone Society by Ellery Adams—Cozy  Mystery

Wine and Punishment by Sarah Fox– Cozy Mystery

The Book Haters’ Book Club by Gretchen Anthony –  Fiction

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman – Romance Fiction

If you are interested in participating, please come to our meeting to choose which book you would like to read or perhaps you can choose all of them!  Also, we will be choosing for September – theme is Books about Food.  Suggestions are welcome – New members are always welcome!

 

New – Fourth Lecture of the

The Plot Thickens Garden Club Lecture Series will be on Thursday, June 15 @ 6:30pm

Are you interested in gaining knowledge of plants, gardens and gardening?  The Stavely Public Library is hosting the fourth lecture in the gardening series that will be held in the Library on Thursday, June 15th 6:30 to 8:30pm.    Our guest speaker will be Kara Matthew Horticulturist at Coutts Centre near Nanton. Topic will be Pollinators & Plants that attract them.  Also, will talk about Common Pests and Predators, Plants that grow on our prairies, Plant Roles, and Pollination vs. Fertilization.   Come join us for a fun and interesting evening with snacks and door prizes provided.  Cost is FREE.  Pre-register by email: help@stavelylibrary.ca or text # 403-682-8880.   Date and topic will be posted each month on the Library Website: www.stavelylibrary.ca; Stavely Municipal Library Facebook page, and Stavely newsletter.

The next lecture will start up again in Sept.  Watch for an announcement later this summer. Also we hope to have a garden tour at the Coutts Centre in July if enough interest.   

All manner of gardeners are welcome – from pot to plot! No Library membership necessary!

 

 

 

TD SUMMER READING PROGRAM IS BACK in the Stavely Library on Wed. afternoons from 1:30 – 3:00pm.  This year’s theme is “Check This Out”The fun and excitement will begin on Wed. July 12th and continue once a week until Wed. August 16th with a variety of games, crafts, stories and prizes.  Each participant has a chance to win a grand prize at each library when the program ends! All children 12 years and under are encouraged to participate.  Register your child to get the official club notebook and stickers by contacting the library.  Studies show that kids who keep reading all summer do better when they return to school in the fall.  TD Summer Reading Club is a great way to keep them engaged.
