TD SUMMER READING PROGRAM IS BACK in the Stavely Library on Wed. afternoons from 1:30 – 3:00pm. This year’s theme is “To the Stars”. The fun and excitement will begin on Wed. July 10th and continue once a week until Wed. August 21st.with a variety of games, crafts, stories and prizes. Each participant has a chance to win a grand prize at each library when the program ends! All children 5 to 12 years are encouraged to participate. Register your child to get the official club notebook and stickers by contacting the library. Studies show that kids who keep reading all summer do better when they return to school in the fall. TD Summer Reading Club is a great way to keep them engaged.
This year the Stavely Library is pleased to announce the TD Summer Reading Club StoryWalk® for summer 2024, starting on Wed. Aug. 6 to Tue. Aug. 20th. A StoryWalk® is a fun, socially distanced activity that places a children’s book, page by page, on laminated poster boards that will be placed in front of the Stavely Library. . Kids and their families have the opportunity to enjoy reading a book while strolling by the Library. This year the book is called: The Darkest Dark by Chris Hadfield and Kate Fillion which includes 18 pages and stands. Kids and their families have the opportunity to have fun reading or listening to the story while walking along the trail and can also challenge yourself by asking the librarian for the questionnaire.
BOOK CLUB – Next meeting will be Thursday Sept.5th in the library at 7:00pm. We will be discussing “The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate; and “Sarah’s Key by Tatiana DeRosnay. Sept. selections will be books about books which will be handed out that evening. The two selected to read in September are:
v The Book Haters’ Book Club by Gretchen Anthony – 2022 Contemporary Humor Fiction
v The Bookshop of Yesterdays – 2018 Contemporary Fiction
If you are interested in participating, please come to our informal meetings! Suggestions are welcome – New members are always welcome! This club is for readers who would like to be introduced to new authors, new genres or talk about new books being published; or just to attend a casual evening of socializing with friends/neighbors!
The Plot Thickens Garden Club Lecture Series will begin again in September. Thank you to all of you who attended this year so far. Look forward to finishing off our year with some exciting topics and presenters starting in September!
