THE FRIENDS OF STAVELY LIBRARY SOCIETY
We were lucky to be asked to sell 50/50 tickets again this year at the Stavely Rodeo June 15 – 17th. Thank you to all our Volunteers and the Public for your support. Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday Sept 7th @ 6pm.

BOOK CLUB – Next meeting will be Thursday Sept. 7th in the library at 7:00pm. We will be discussing “The Secret Book & Scone Society by Ellery Adams; “Wine and Punishment” by Sarah Fox; “The Book Haters’ Book Club” by Gretchen Anthony; and “The Bookish Life of Nina Hill” by Abbi Waxman which were our Books about Book Clubs. Sept. selections will be books about Food which will be handed out that evening. They will be announced in August.
If you are interested in participating, please come to our meeting to choose which book you would like to read or choose all of them! Suggestions are welcome – New members are always welcome! This club is for readers who would like to be introduced to new authors, new genres or talk about new books being published; or just to attend a casual evening of socializing with friends/neighbors!
New – Fifth Lecture of the
The Plot Thickens Garden Club Lecture Series will begin again in September.
If you are you interested in gaining knowledge of plants, gardens and gardening- Come join us for a fun and interesting evening with snacks and door prizes provided. Date and topic will be posted each month on the Library Website: www.stavelylibrary.ca; Stavely Municipal Library Facebook page, and Stavely newsletter.
Coutts Garden Centre Tour will be on Thursday, July 13th. Garden tours can range from 1-4 hours depending on how in depth you would like. They do not usually charge a fee, but rather a recommended donation of $5 per person to help mitigate the cost of labour.

The next lecture will start up again in Sept. Watch for an announcement later this summer. All manner of gardeners are welcome – from pot to plot! No Library membership necessary!
TD SUMMER READING PROGRAM IS BACK in the Stavely Library on Wed. afternoons from 1:30 – 3:30pm. This year’s theme is “Check This Out”. The fun and excitement will begin on Wed. July 12th and continue once a week until Wed. August 16th with a variety of games, crafts, stories and prizes. Each participant has a chance to win a grand prize at each library when the program ends! All children 12 years and under are encouraged to participate. Studies show that kids who keep reading all summer do better when they return to school in the fall. TD Summer Reading Club is a great way to keep them engaged.
Please register your child to get the official club notebook and stickers by contacting the library.
*NEW This year the Stavely Library is pleased to announce the TD Summer Reading Club StoryWalk® for summer 2023, starting on Wed. Aug. 2 to Tue. Aug. 15th. A StoryWalk® is a fun, socially distanced activity that places a children’s book, page by page, on laminated poster boards that will be placed in front of the Stavely Library. . Kids and their families have the opportunity to enjoy reading a book while strolling by the Library. This year the book is called Treasure, by Mireille Messier which includes 18 pages and stands.
