THE FRIENDS OF STAVELY LIBRARY SOCIETY

We will be selling raffle tickets for a Beautiful Quilt made and graciously donated to the Friends Society by Debbie Vezina. Tickets will be $5/per ticket with only 200 tickets sold, available at the Library Oct. 1st.  Draw will be made in the library on Dec. 2.

 

Our Society is selling tubs of Ice Melt again this year. You can pre- order now by emailing: help@stavelylibrary.ca; or phone the Library at 403-549-2190 or stop in at the library Mon - Thursdays during open hours as posted on the Library Website. $30/pail if pre-ordered before Nov 1st.  Delivery available in town on Nov 6th or can be picked up at the Library or at the Christmas Market Nov. 6th.

Once again, we will be having a 50/50 draw for you to enter and win up to $750 at a cost of $10 per square.  Draw to be on Dec. 18th at the Stavely Municipal Library.   The Tickets can be purchased at the Library beginning November 4th.    We will also have a table set up at the Royal Purple Christmas Market on November 6th to purchase 50/50 tickets.

Next regular meeting and AGM is scheduled for Thursday NOV.14TH @ 7pm.

Stavely Library Board- Next meeting Oct. 10th @7pm

The Plot Thickens Garden Club Lecture Series – next lecture is on Wed. Oct 16th

Are you interested in gaining knowledge of plants, gardens and gardening?  The Stavely Public Library will be hosting Jacquie from Randle Handles Horticulture in the Library 7pm to 8:30pm.  Jacquie will be chatting about the affects of drought on trees and how to start preparing to minimize winter burn.   Come join us for a fun and interesting evening with snacks and door prizes provided. Pre-register by email: help@stavelylibrary.ca or text # 403-682-8880. Cost will be a $10 cover charge (can be made by e-transfer to help@stavelylibrary.ca) or cash/cheque that evening.   

The last Lecture for 2024, in the Plot Thickens Garden Lecture Series, is scheduled for November 28th @6:30pm at the Library.   Stavely’s own Leo Nugteren of Baron Design in Nanton will be teaching participants how to create a “High Style Funky” Christmas arrangement. Everyone who registers will take home their own beautiful creation.  There will be a fee of $40 to offset the cost of supplies.  Please register and e-transfer payment to: help@stavelylibrary.ca before Nov. 21st or visit the Library to register. 

Scholastic Book Fair – is back again this fall!  The Stavely Municipal Library/Stavely School will be hosting the Book Fair open to the public starting Mon. Nov. 25th to Thurs. Nov. 28th

10 am to 6pm, with the last day to purchase on Mon. Dec. 2. 10 am to 2 pm.  All purchases go toward our Book Fair dollars to support our cause to put more books on the shelf for our school and community.  With Christmas around the corner, give the gift of reading!

BOOK CLUBNext meeting will be Thursday Oct. 3 in the library at 7pm. We will be discussingThe Book Haters’ Book Club” by Gretchen Anthony; “The Bookshop of Yesterdays” by Amy Meyerson; and The Reading List” by Sara Nisha Adams.  Oct. selections will be spooky/horror books which will be handed out that evening. The books selected to read in October are:
